The tradition of magnolia and white in the home seems to be fading. White will always have its place, but magnolia is being swapped for more daring colours.
Different camps.
There seem to be two groups of people, those happy to have dramatic papers and those happy to splash colour, in all forms, over their walls.

If I had time, I’d be the latter, I love colour and the atmosphere it can create. As it is I’m happy to report we are too busy for David to redo my walls on a whim (it’s still the dream though!).
In the prep.
Just as we prep a wall for any kind of decoration, if done correctly we can prep and cover a strong colour to change it, even back to white! Traditionally we’d prep walls after water damage or nicotine staining. There seems to be less of this and more strong paint colours to cover.
The children’s marker pens and crayon art fad will never go away mind you ❤️
We use a stain block to prep the walls. Our preference is Zinsser and it can be used inside and externally. There are lots of brands out there, but for us Zinnser is best. No bleed through and amazing cover, without having to apply too thick a coat.
Professional touch.
Preparation, stain block and having the best tools for the job is what to expect in your painter. We’ve had a few new customers explain that in the past, as they had not provided these things themselves, other painters blamed them for the lack of finish.
When you contract a professional to undertake any work, the expectation should be that they will provide a full service – unless you have stated otherwise…..
