Do you have resolutions?

After the festive break we’re back full steam ahead at Ardent Decorating! In fact, before 2023 even came to an end, I had started a list for 2024.

Will I ever feel like an adult?

I’ve often said I wasn’t sure when I’d be a grown up.

When I graduated from uni? 👩🏻‍🎓 No.

When I owed my first house? 🏠 No.

When I became a mother?🤱🏻 No way!

When I became an exec?👩🏼‍💻 Haha no, I never felt like I was playing a part more!

At the end of ‘23 we spoke to a financial advisor about pensions, they are finding my old pensions and will collaborate them into one for me. This then led onto wills….something we always knew we should do but never found the time. Now these will be done by the end of the month.

This is it. The most adult I think I’ll ever be.

These things are so important, not just because we have dependents, or because we have a mortgage and assets, but because we aren’t getting any younger (oh my god 🫣). We need to ensure we aren’t a burden to our children when they have their own responsibilities. And that’s it, the most grown up I’ve felt….

Financial advisors.

Our financial advisor is Mr Alan Mackie from Campbell Mackie financial advisors, who came to our home to talk to us. Within the hour we had a plan in place to give him the information he needed for our pensions. Which lawyer to get our wills done with- it seems it’s best to go wherever the deeds of your house are held. We even got advice on our savings, tax and how to plan for our children’s futures. We highly recommend Campbell Mackie, we felt completely at ease and not embarrassed to ask any questions, and we had lots! It’s the first time we’ve verbalised this stuff to anyone apart from one another!

Back to our usual selves.

Don’t worry too much, we managed to get through the festive season without too much adulting. We played games, ate and drank too much on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with family and friends.

We spent Hogmanay in Edinburgh watching Pulp live with our sons – the perks of having older kids!

Our eldest turned 15, yes 15! how did that even happen! We’ve just finished eating his cake 🫣 (roll on a healthier new year).

We had one last party before school and work started back and January really hit. It was a good one, reminiscing about parties and people when we were teens, and watching ours join in more actively 😂.

Here we are.

Already prepping for year end, trying to stay ahead of the game. January is never fun, but with a busy diary and a list of to do’s, we’ll be looking at valentines cards in no time!
