Baby Boom!

Before anyone panics, this is not an announcement. There will be no more smithlings in our house, but we can’t deny there has been a massive baby boom!

Nothing brings optimism like the brightness of a baby’s eyes and the softness of their skin. Decorating your babies first room, or nursery is something you’ll never forget, and it’s something we take on with love and pride, everytime.

Safety first.

We will happily recommend the safest of paints to use in your little ones room. Paints are all safe when dry, but some are stronger than others on application. You need to look for low or free VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints. Water based are always safe too. Here are some of the safest paints for your walls.

Growing their imaginations.

We opted for a traditional neutral Winnie the Pooh nursery. It was beautiful! But when the boys got older and moved into a bigger room we created an actual jungle. Bright walls with leaf canopies and a jungle mural on the wall. We let our imaginations run wild, which in turn rubbed off on our boys.

Remember, very young children see black and white a lot earlier than bright colours, so although monochrome may seem severe, studies show that infants interact better with those colours and shapes. There are some great papers out there! I could have picked tonnes, but here are just a few.
