I can’t believe it’s October! I can’t believe next years colours are already out there! I have a feeling about next year, let’s call it being cautiously optimistic. We can’t afford to keep looking into the abyss. For our own well being let’s try to find a brighter side.
Colour our world.
Every year the bigger paint suppliers announce their colours for the following year. These colours end up trending, and why not, a change in pallet is always welcome. Grey is still the new magnolia, and magnolia is rarely used at all any more. 2023 is introducing some rich colours to play with, and definitely something for everyone’s taste.
Dulux.
Naming their colour of the year wild wonder, they explain their colour as champagne toned. Although this colour doesn’t sound too rich, I’d say it really is. It will add depth and warmth to a room with enough of a colour in it to be the main attraction, however it is neutral enough to be paired with an even richer colour.
Graham & Brown.
This year G&B have gone with another dramatic colour, Alizarin. A warm auburn red colour that I’m sure will be used for doors and frames as well as for feature walls. As always G&B have paired their colour of the year with their design of the year, a rich floral paper, Florenzia.
Farrow & Ball.
For the first time since 2018, F&B have introduced no less than 11 new colours to their pallet. All beautiful, but there are a couple that really stand out.
Valspar.
When I say Valspar, I really mean Valspar Premiun. At Ardent we wouldn’t use anything but the premium range. Luckily the premium range is included in Valspar’s colour for 2023, or should I say colours!
They have looked into the psychology of colour, something you know I love, and created 11 new colours to go with the mood you are trying to create in a room. Out of the 11 here are a few of my favourites….
The classics are still on the shelves, but it’s always refreshing to see some colour inspiration this end of the year. We have some really exciting projects coming up, I hope they choose some of these new colours!
