Does your exterior let your house down?

Your exterior deserves as much TLC as interior.

Spring has officially sprung. In the despair and uncertainly around us we can’t stop the seasons.

The days are lighter for longer, the sun is actually shining and it’s almost time to put the winter coats away.

Stay at home.

All of the lucky people get to be at home. We might be stressed, we might be worrying, we might be bored?! This is our time to evaluate all that’s around us. This week for me it’s the great outdoors! By that I mean the decking and extensive fencing we have.

Lucky for my painter our fascia and soffit’s are Upvc or they’d need doing too!

All in the preparation.

Prep for wood is important. You have to make sure it’s ready for whatever will be applied.

 To make the most of the surface you must scrape, dust and wash off all old flaking stain. David has decided on an opaque wood stain for the inside of our garden which is not a favourite of mine…..but it weathers well and I may only have him for a few weeks, with little chance of new materials. So beggars can’t be choosers!

We recommend a flexible, highly durable wood stain, it might be a little more expensive, but it really will last so much longer!

Bringing colour to our lives.

For our front and back doors and exterior fence we really like the colour Clover leaf. You can get sadolin super deck mixed as this colour in crown. This opaque wood protection may be expensive, but with 10 years durable protection in a tin this is on our wish list for now.

Look after one another.

I don’t want you all thinking I’m a slave driver. None of this might happen. I find it relaxing to plan these things as they are less ‘real life’ right now. However I have to be mindful of David’s well-being. He is worried about the future, as we all are. If he doesn’t want to do it, that’s fine.

Although his weekends will be busy when he gets back to work if he doesn’t!
