Doing research for what will be on trend in 2022 I thought about two factors.
- It feels like I was only writing last years, ‘this years trends’ a few weeks ago.
- I was relieved that my research all pointed toward the fact that the trends of 2021 are not becoming obsolete, but seem to be being added to…..
For me the latter factor is an important one. In the last two years everyone has had something in their house decorated. To have a big change in trends right now would be really unfortunate.
Here are the top 5 trends for 2022.
1. An official workspace.

Many of us had to work from home for the first time over the last two years, and some employers have decided that’s the best way forward. Setting up a make shift office in the kitchen will do for a short time, but to really stay focussed you need a designated area. You’ll find that almost all new builds now include a home office. It’s great to be able to close the door at finishing time, it’s much harder to pack it all away. Investing in a proper desk and chair will make all the difference to your working day!
2. Minimalism.

We all had that bit of spare time to catch up and clear out during the pandemic. Clear spaces can help clear minds. It might not work all over the house, but having one clear room to relax in without too much stimulation can do wonders for your mindset.
3. Bringing nature inside.
The colours for 2022 are bright and airy, reminiscent of a spring morning, and why wouldn’t you want that around you?! With wood and air elements strong is colour palettes along with floral papers, having nature around us has never been easier accomplished.

4. Curves.
Angular boxy furniture takes up space, but the same size furniture with a curved design gives the illusion of being space saving, and softer…..we all deserve a little softness to relax in. Let’s celebrate the curves!

5. Wallpaper.
I’m so glad wallpaper is here to stay! From plain to patterned to full scenes, the choice of wall coverings has never been so varied! With something to suit all tastes and budgets you can change a whole room with the right paper!
