Look to the future

2021 is in sight!

With September comes crisper mornings, darker evenings, long sleeves and if we’re lucky, a little extra sun!

As well as this the next year comes into focus. For us that means the launch of 2021’s colour of the year!

Our mostly used manufacturer and our favourite manufacturer have both announced theirs, and although I’m sure they didn’t collaborate, the colours compliment one another well!

Brave Ground.

Dulux have aptly named their 2021 colour of the year Brave Ground.

A natural tone that will pair well with wooden furniture, indoor plants and contrast well with bolder counterparts, teals and greens. This carries on the theme of bringing the outdoors in, and gives the option of doing so subtly or boldly! I’d suggest pairing with a bolder colour, using this as your feature may be a little too subtle….although if your soft furnishings are bold it may be the perfect backdrop!

Epoch Resistance.

Graham brown have gone for an almost purple tone with plenty of warmth running through it.

Epoch Resistance is an ultra Matt, and after using their other ultra Matt paints, we know the quality of this paint will show through on your walls. Paring this with another bold colour like teal or green will see the peacock effect that inspired the designers. If you want to make this colour your main feature, adding it to a room with Dulux’s Brave Ground will ensure it takes centre stage. Graham Brown suggest this colour to be continued from skirtings to ceiling and even suggests making a feature out of your doors with it. As always they favour the brave, encouraging elegance along the way.

Softer surrounds.

Matt paints look to stay strong for 2021, and with durable matts in almost every range now, why not? The days of high gloss woodwork seem to be over, with a contemporary clean feel in flat finishes for skirtings, surrounds and internal doors.

With the discovery of next years colours I feel enthusiastic about 2021, maybe something to look forward to?! Let’s face it, it can’t be any worse than this year!
