Whole new world.
Before entering into this world I’ll wholly admit I had no idea what went in to decorating, let alone house building or finishing trades. The finishing trade is completely responsible for the end look, even if the trades before didn’t get it quite right.
Managing expectations.
Painters should be experts in their fields, first class painters need to be able to assess other trade standards too. Be it materials used, time pressures or even the time of year, these variables change a blank canvas entirely.
Filling the gaps.
There are many technical details to preparing a wall for paint. It’s not as simple as picking up a roller and off you go.
If we’re lucky there is only filling to do. This could be because of recesses caused by nails, joins in skirting and wood to wall. Gouges or damages and patches cut out to install electrics. We fill all of these problem areas before opening any cans of paint.
Skimming the surface.
Often re skimming walls with a finishing product is the best way to prepare for a professional finish. This creates a much finer finish than the slight furriness of plasterboard walls.
All in.
We now often undertake ames taping before painting. Being in control of taping makes for a much better standard of finish. Our method ensures minimal build up, minimal sanding down and a pristine finish. Employing both machine and hand taping techniques we can assess what’s best for each individual area.
When you realise your blank canvas has already gone through hours of work to get to that finish you know you are employing the best kind of painter.
