School’s out for Summer!

After the kids managing three months at school since the start of this year, they are now officially finished for the summer! I’m really excited for some down time with them and I’m hopeful that homeschooling will well and truly be in the past.

Now that our boys are a little older they spend more time in their rooms. Sometimes too much time! We’ve arranged a few weeks away over the summer to coax them out of their rooms in the hope they’ll enjoy some family time. Staycation is the word of the year, for us that means holidaying with Hamish, so much fun to be had!

Their own style.

Our boys are very different, dark and light, chatty and quiet, gamer and physical player. Their rooms reflect this, or should I say what they want in their rooms.

Poor Ben has had his wall paper picked out, but we just haven’t had the time to get it on the wall yet. He’ll have comic strip paper for a few more weeks before we get his new look sorted.

Finn picked his paper a couple of years ago and I can’t see it changing any time soon. His personality is perfectly reflected in his room.

Bring their personalities through.

Our kids have been through so much over the last two years, they’ve probably grown up more than they should. Kids rooms are usually decorated more often than others, their surroundings show how they are growing and changing. It might just be a change of soft furniture, but it could be a feature wall, or a full room redec!

Let children be just that.

It’s empowering to let them have input, this is their safe space, where they’ll bring friends, where they’ll lay their heads every night. We get to close the door, so it really doesn’t have to keep in a theme with the rest of the house. Let their imaginations fly!
